Weezer Bassist’s Wife Shot by Police, Arrested for Attempted Murder

The Incident Unfolds

On April 8, a dramatic and disturbing incident unfolded in the neighborhood of Jillian Lauren, wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner. According to a press release from the Los Angeles Police Department, a hit-and-run manhunt led police to chase one of the suspects into Lauren’s neighborhood. Although Lauren was not involved in the hit-and-run, the Weezer bassist’s wife allegedly emerged from her house holding a handgun.

Confrontation with Police

The situation escalated when police ordered Lauren to drop the handgun multiple times, but she refused. The press release states that Lauren then pointed the gun at the officers, prompting them to shoot her. After being shot, the Weezer bassist’s wife retreated back into her house before emerging again and being taken to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Charges and Aftermath

Police charged Lauren with attempted murder and recovered a nine-millimeter handgun from her house. The Weezer bassist’s wife posted a $1 million bond and was released on April 9, according to CNN. The incident has sent shockwaves through the music community, with Weezer set to perform at Coachella on April 12.
