Chase Briscoe Secures Front Row Start at Charlotte Motor Speedway
Chase Briscoe has clinched the Busch Light Pole Award at Charlotte Motor Speedway, achieving an impressive lap speed of 182.852 mph on Saturday. This victory, where Briscoe wins Coca-Cola 600 pole, positions him at the front of the grid for the highly anticipated Coca-Cola 600, set to take place on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET, broadcasted on Prime Video, PRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
A Milestone for Briscoe
This marks Briscoe’s second pole win of the season, following his success at the Daytona 500. It is also his fourth career pole and his first at the Charlotte track. Once again, Briscoe wins Coca-Cola 600 pole and joins Kyle Larson on the front row, who qualified in second place. Larson is gearing up for a busy weekend as he aims to compete in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600.
Top Qualifiers
The top five qualifiers for the race include William Byron, Chris Buescher, and AJ Allmendinger, rounding out the list behind Briscoe and Larson. John Hunter Nemechek, Ty Gibbs, Noah Gragson, Alex Bowman, and Christopher Bell secured positions six through ten, setting the stage for an exciting crown jewel race where Briscoe wins Coca-Cola 600 pole.
Notable Incidents
In qualifying, Carson Hocevar faced difficulties, spinning out in Turn 4 and finishing 39th. Tyler Reddick brushed the wall while running the high line, ultimately qualifying 12th. Ross Chastain, who encountered a wreck during practice, did not participate in qualifying as his team prepared a backup car.
Practice Highlights
Saturday’s activities kicked off with an hour-long practice session divided into two 25-minute groups, with a brief intermission. Hocevar led Group 1 with a speed of 180.445 mph, while Reddick topped Group 2 at 178.897 mph. The overall top ten included Hocevar, Ty Gibbs, Allmendinger, Denny Hamlin, Reddick, Erik Jones, Bubba Wallace, Byron, Chastain, and Michael McDowell.
Chastain also led the groups in consecutive 10-lap averages, showcasing his speed before the incident. Unfortunately, he hit the wall hard coming out of Turn 3, resulting in a red flag. After being evaluated, Chastain was released from the infield care center. Meanwhile, Kyle Busch did not participate in Group 2 but managed to qualify 24th.
